STATE OF THE SONGFEED

Hello there. I thought I’d take a moment to update you on the status of this blog and to remind you of all the easy ways you can access my music for free.

    Recent Maintenance

I have been putting quite a lot of hours into improving the user experience recently, managing to fix quite a few format issues. I’m afraid the site still looks a bit ugly on IE6, but it should be usable on most browsers now. Let me know of any issues.

I am also in the intitial stages of setting up an online shop. All my music will still be available to download for free on this site, but I am introducing an option to pay (a few cents) for higher quality downloads with high resolution artwork, pdf lyrics and more. The implementation process is taking time (and money), because I am making sure that the system is completely secure before I go live. Expect further posts about this.

Get my music for free as it released

Despite having put so much work into the look and functionality of the site itself, the easiest way for you to get my music (and for me to give it to you) is through one of my feeds. You can subscribe in itunes, subscribe in something like (but not actually) itunes, subscribe to the blog or subscribe to the mailing list.

Note that all of these will deliver the same content; a regular drip of free songs, and access to every song I have uploaded.

2011 was a good year for the songfeed; I launched the podcast, which is now accounting for a lot of my traffic; I diversified a bit, uploading some comic book scripts and and article or two; I dramatically improved the layout of the site, and released a load of new recordings. What’s more, I picked up a few regular visitors and subscribers. Fingers crossed for 2012…

In more general news, work on the next big recording project is going on right now. I am very proud of the material and am very very excited about getting drums down and layering up some epic guitar. Expect rock, and expect it this year! Until then, remember that there will be new acoustic numbers going online fortnightly.

As always, thanks for paying attention and thanks to everyone who shares my work through social media; it makes a huge difference!

    Until next time,

Andrzej Stepien AKA Trembling Jack Luster

      RIANNE I WILL NOT REST

“Fate cracks a window once it’s bolted all one’s doors
Oh Rianne I will not rest until I’m yours”

A common post-gig question is, “So, who’s Rianne then?” A common post-gig answer to said question is, “Rianne is an abstract drawn from various sources; a quantum probability whom I can only hope to meet one day. Perhaps she’s you.” A common reaction to this answer is an awkward silence, followed by a hasty retreat.

This is yet another take from my Summer 2011 recording session. Unusually for me, it is quite long, weighing in at about 4 and a half minutes. Next stop prog!

        You think I’m joking….

        Lyrics:

        Oh Rianne
The fact of never having you
took quite a lot of working through
I’ve previously sung about the worst time we ever said adieu
This story should be done by now
The pages should have fallen out

        Oh Rianne
I really really think I am the only one for you
and I would waste a whole life vainly trying to convince you that it’s true
I could be your knight in shining armour or your whore

Oh Rianne I will not rest until I’m yours

        Oh Rianne
        Fate forever forked
This one time in your life just give it up and go for me
My self esteem gets damaged and my heart aches when you see me as plan B
Bring me my rivals and I will defeat them all

Oh Rianne I will not rest until I’m yours

        Oh Rianne
        I will not abort
Though when I say I will not rest I mean I’ll strive to be the best
and either win your heart or self improve enough that I can just restart
Fate cracks a window once it’s bolted all one’s doors

Oh Rianne I will not rest until I’m yours

In the aftermath of insanity, one cold fact endures

Oh Rianne I will not rest until I’m yours

          DOINGS AND HAPPENINGS

Hello once again, friends. Thanks for the positive comments regarding recent tracks :) I thought I’d start posting little snippets and obscurities inbetween the main download posts. I promise not to shout about these ones quite so much.

Today’s delicia is a sneak peak at my current recording project: a concept album! I have the songs written (there will be some old, and some new), and it will tell a story of sorts. I’m really quite excited about it; I’ll be recording the drum tracks with Tony from The Lost Clauses over the next few weeks, and from then I will start layering things up. I am determined that it sound epic, and to this end I have started composing brass parts.

It’s been a new and interesting experience, but those are the experiences that really enhance one’s understanding of the craft. All about pushing in new directions. Anyway, today’s download is a sample from one such arrangement, rendered in nasty synthesised brass. Don’t suppose you know any brass musicians?
