Some people are just unlucky
It does not make them incompatible
(though they may lack certain points of reference)
It does not make them weird
(though they may often feel alien)
It does not mean they have a ‘low sex drive’
(though they may have no sex life)
Or that they are happier alone
(though they may try to be)
They are no less capable of showing love
(though opportunities to do so may have become increasingly difficult to recognise)
nor are they any less susceptible to the pain of being alone
(though one learns to cope)
they are no less human
(though they may often feel it)
no less alive
(though they may, at times, have wished otherwise)
some people are just unlucky
